Fubon applies four ESG strategies to leverage its financial strengths and drive sustainable industrial and social development

Fubon Financial Holdings’ efforts to promote corporate sustainability have once again been recognized! To encourage the financial sector to proactively manage climate change and ESG-related risks, align with international trends in sustainable finance, and strengthen the financial system’s role in guiding the sustainable transformation of the real economy—thereby accelerating the development of a comprehensive sustainable finance ecosystem—the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) will implement sustainable finance evaluation indicators starting in 2023. Today (the 2nd), the awards ceremony for the “3rd Sustainable Finance Evaluation” was held. Four subsidiaries of Fubon Financial Holdings—Fubon Life, Fubon Insurance, Fubon Securities, and Fubon Asset Management—were each honored with rankings in the top 25% of their respective industries, insurance and securities! This fully recognizes Fubon’s long-term commitment to corporate sustainability and its active implementation of the four key ESG strategies—decarbonization, digitalization, empowerment, and connection—as it continues to leverage the core functions of the financial industry to drive positive change for the sustainable development of both the industry and society.

Fubon Life sets industry benchmarks, earning top “Sustainable Finance Evaluation” recognition for three consecutive years

Amid the active advancement of sustainable transition policies, Fubon Life has, for the third time, been recognized among the top 25% of the insurance industry in the “Sustainable Finance Evaluation.” This distinction highlights the company’s outstanding performance across key areas including sustainable governance, climate risk management, green finance development, and information transparency.

Fubon Life continues to leverage its investment influence to drive the sustainable transformation of industries. Its outstanding balance of green finance investments has increased steadily year by year, with a target of exceeding NT$2 trillion by 2030. At the same time, the Company fulfills its sustainability commitments through green procurement practices—between 2018 and 2025, cumulative purchases from social innovation enterprises have surpassed NT$400 million. In support of the government’s “2050 Net-Zero Emissions” goal, Fubon Life has strengthened its management of climate-related risks and actively participates in international sustainability initiatives, including the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and RE100. The Company has committed to achieving 100% renewable electricity usage across all global operations by 2040. At the same time, Fubon Life extends its sustainability commitment beyond core operations by continuously advancing a river waste rapid assessment program, further deepening its efforts in environmental conservation.

On the customer side, Fubon Life enhances access to insurance protection and advances inclusive finance through innovative products and digital services. From a governance perspective, the Company continues to strengthen the quality of its TCFD-aligned climate disclosures while enhancing its resilience and responsiveness in adapting to regulatory and accounting transitions, including IFRS 17 and the TIS framework. Looking ahead, grounded in its financial expertise, Fubon Life will continue to drive sustainable innovation and expand its positive impact on the environment and society.

Fubon Insurance advances sustainable finance, ranking in the top 25%

In the latest assessment, Fubon Insurance was ranked within the top 25% of the insurance industry for the overall composite score as well as across all three ESG dimensions—Environmental, Social, and Governance. This performance reflects the Company’s approach to integrating sustainability through a structured management framework, continuous performance enhancement, and balanced value creation. Amid increasing climate‑related risks to business stability and operations, Fubon Insurance has embedded climate considerations into its risk management practices by leveraging data analytics and technological innovation to develop comprehensive disaster risk assessment systems. The Company further supports the low‑carbon transition by providing loss prevention and risk advisory services for renewable energy and emerging sectors, including solar power, offshore wind, and energy storage. Through these initiatives, Fubon Insurance demonstrates the role of insurance in enhancing climate resilience and supporting the sustainable development of a low‑carbon economy.

Fubon Insurance also actively advances service digitalization through the broad adoption of electronic policies, digital policy terms, and mobile platforms. Through cross‑industry collaborations with partners such as Taiwan Mobile, STARLUX Airlines, and momo.com, the Company has introduced a “one‑stop insurance” service model. In addition, Fubon Insurance has partnered with USPACE to pilot a “real‑time usage‑based insurance” program, which has received regulatory approval from the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC). In response to an era characterized by rapidly evolving usage scenarios, these initiatives provide customers with more diversified and convenient insurance channels while enhancing overall service accessibility.

Guided by four core strategies—decarbonization, digitalization, empowerment, and connection—Fubon Insurance will continue to deepen its sustainable finance initiatives. By integrating its risk management expertise with digital innovation capabilities, the Company aims to strengthen its climate risk response and service resilience, translating sustainability commitments into tangible actions.
