Taipei Fubon Bank Obtained Tokyo Branch License from Japanese FSA, Advancing its Asian Expansion
Advancing Taiwanese businessmen abroad, strengthening financial support in Japan, and expanding our international network
Taipei Fubon Bank has officially received the license for its Tokyo branch from the Japanese Financial Services Agency today (10th). The branch is expected to open in the second quarter of this year, which will further extend Taipei Fubon Bank's service reach into the Northeast Asian market. This move will effectively enhance the cross-border financial service network, catering to the diverse financial needs of Taiwanese enterprises and individuals operating and investing in Japan, thereby further energizing the economic and trade relations between Taiwan and Japan.
Taipei Fubon Bank stated that Japan is Taiwan’s third‑largest trading partner and its second‑largest source of imports, with consistently close bilateral economic and trade relations. In recent years, the rapid growth of the semiconductor industry has prompted more Taiwan‑based companies to plan new factories or capacity expansions in Japan, driving continuous increases in demand for project financing, working capital, and trade‑related cash‑flow services. With the Tokyo branch license now secured, Taipei Fubon Bank will be able to operate closer to its customers’ business environments, providing comprehensive, timely, and locally grounded financial services. This positions the bank to better support enterprises in capturing emerging growth opportunities in the Japanese market.
Upon its official opening, the Tokyo Branch will focus on corporate banking, offering services such as syndicated loans, factory construction financing, and trade financing. The Tokyo branch will also integrate the capabilities of Taipei Fubon Bank’s head office and Fubon Group’s overseas networks, enhancing both the depth and breadth of its cross‑border financial services. This will enable the bank to provide enterprises with more comprehensive, one‑stop financial solutions for their strategic expansion across the Asia‑Pacific region.
Taipei Fubon Bank has long cultivated overseas markets with the development goal of “becoming one of Asia's first-class financial institutions.” It currently operates branches in Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Singapore, with representative offices in Indonesia, Australia, and South Korea. In addition to the Tokyo branch, Taipei Fubon Bank is also actively preparing for the establishment of branches in Australia and India. Through a more comprehensive Asia‑Pacific expansion strategy, the bank aims to further strengthen its cross‑border financial capabilities and diversify its revenue streams. By providing enterprises with seamless, integrated services across markets, Taipei Fubon Bank strives to be the optimal partner in enhancing customers’ international competitiveness and creating long‑term value.
