Fubon Financial Holdings Donated NT$20 Million to Help with the Reconstruction after Typhoon Danas
The subsidiaries, Fubon Life and Fubon Insurance, are collaboratively offering assistance to help customers navigate through difficulties
Typhoon Danas made landfall in Chiayi on July 6. The areas of Tainan and Chiayi in Taiwan were severely affected, resulting in widespread water and electricity outages, significant damage to residential properties, and substantial losses in agricultural products and public facilities, necessitating ongoing social assistance. Fubon Financial Holdings announced today (24th) a donation of NT$20 million to Disaster Relief Donation Account of Taiwan Foundation for Disaster Relief which operates under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. This contribution aims to assist with relief efforts for Typhoon Danas, as well as to support the ongoing needs of disaster victims and the costs associated with social reconstruction.
Richard M. Tsai, Chairman of Fubon Financial Holdings, stated that in the face of sudden natural disasters, businesses should do their best to be a stabilizing force in society. Fubon Financial Holdings consistently upholds its brand spirit of "Be Positive All Possible" and steps up during critical moments to stand alongside those affected by disasters. We fully understand that the consequences of natural disasters involve not just the losses faced in the present but also the extensive challenge of restoring lives. Thus, we hope to contribute and extend support for the community's medium to long-term recovery and livelihood assistance efforts after the disaster. We encourage all sectors of society to continuously gather their resources to assist the affected residents in overcoming this challenging situation.
In response to Typhoon Danas, Fubon Life and Fubon Insurance, both subsidiaries of Fubon Financial Holdings, quickly implemented their emergency response systems to extend care and assistance to their customers.
Fubon Life has activated its emergency response plan immediately following the disaster. If policyholders are affected by the typhoon, they will receive prompt claims service, medical insurance benefits to cover hospitalization costs, deferred premium payments, postponed interest on policy loans, assistance with mortgage applications, and free policy reissuance among six major emergency response measures and care initiatives (application period: from now until September 30, 2025). In addition, the company will enhance reporting mechanisms across various regions, proactively checking on affected policyholders and maintaining contact to assist them during this difficult time.
Fubon Insurance promptly activated its emergency response team to closely monitor the impact of natural disasters across various regions and the losses incurred by policyholders. The company proactively reached out to provide timely assistance and claims guidance, while also initiating a rapid claims mechanism to help affected policyholders return to their normal lives as soon as possible. This typhoon has had a significant adverse effect on crops, particularly bananas. In response, Fubon Insurance quickly organized for vendors to carry out damage assessments for banana plant insurance right after the disaster. The goal is to expedite the imaging process and enable farmers to start their cleanup efforts promptly which will help avoid delays in recovery and minimize the risk of pest and disease outbreaks.
Fubon Financial Holdings has long been committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility. Whether in Taiwan or during significant international disasters, we are committed to offering support at the first moment, actively conveying positive influence and practicing social care. Fubon Financial Holdings and its subsidiaries will continue to assist the government in the reconstruction efforts following this storm disaster. We also hope that all sectors of society will join in caring for and helping the affected communities to restore their homes as soon as possible.
