Taipei Fubon Bank Opens its Seoul Representative Office to Boost Asia Pacific Operations

2025.07.04

Actively Expanding Overseas Service Networks to Support Cross-Border Development of Taiwanese Businesses

Alongside the rapid evolution of the global economic landscape, and in an effort to provide comprehensive financial services for enterprises internationally, the Taipei Fubon Bank Seoul Representative Office has officially commence its operation, becoming the second Taiwanese bank to have a presence in South Korea. Taipei Fubon Bank is committed to advancing its deployment in the Asia Pacific and expanding its overseas service territory.

Kuo Pei-Ting (Tim Kuo), President of Taipei Fubon Bank, said that South Korea, as an important economy in Asia, has shown its immense development potential in technological innovation and manufacturing industries. The bilateral trade deal between Taiwan and South Korea also continues to rise, with promising future business opportunities anticipated. At present, Fubon Financial Holding has a number of investment in South Korea, such as Fubon Hyundai Life Insurance, Woori Financial Group and Hyundai Card. The Group's available local resources could be an assist to the Seoul Representative Office to explore market opportunities. Fubon Bank will also work with other companies to lay a solid foundation for Fubon’s growing development in Asia.

The Seoul Representative office is located in Three IFC, within the Yeouido Business District (YBD). As an emerging financial district in South Korea, YBD is home to many financial organizations, such as the Korea Stock Exchange and the Financial Services Commission, as well as various non-banking institutions and international enterprises. While Fubon Hyundai Life Insurance and Hyundai Card are also located in YBD, collaboration between affiliates within the Group could be more efficient.

During the initial period of its operations, the Seoul Representative Office will focus on researching the Korean market and building relationships with local financial institutions, enterprises and the Taiwanese community. This will help the Bank gain an insight into the needs of customers for the headquarters to formulate a more targeted business strategy to enhance the quality of service and influence of Taipei Fubon Bank in the Asian region.

We have long been dedicated to cross-border financial services and have built a strong customer base, which has continued to grow internationally over the years. Including the Seoul Representative Office, Taipei Fubon Bank now has one subsidiary bank, five branches and three representative offices in the Asia-Pacific region. We are opening our Sydney Branch in the fourth quarter of this year with the preparation of our Tokyo and India Branches underway, with an aim to “becoming a top-class financial institution” in Asia. Through a comprehensive service network, we expect to expand our overseas business scale and build multiple revenue streams to further strengthen the breadth of our cross-border services, meeting customer's all-around financial needs and creating more value for enterprises.
