Let the Earth Take a Breath! Fubon Financial Holdings Advocates for a Public 'Green Hour' Initiative to Promote Low-carbon Relaxation Initiative

We invite employees to experience a low-carbon, zero-waste lifestyle at the grand return of the Fubon Run For Green™ Public Online Running

In response to the theme of Earth Day 2025, "Our Power, Our Planet," Fubon Financial Holdings has issued a public brand letter advocating for the "Green Hour" initiative, which encourages individuals to dedicate one hour each day to low-carbon relaxation. This initiative aims to rejuvenate personal energy while allowing the earth to recover. The company not only invites its employees to participate in the "Green Hour" low-carbon break experience but also organizes workshops to engage employees in a zero-waste lifestyle, demonstrating a commitment to environmental stewardship through tangible actions. In addition, Fubon Financial Holdings has announced the grand return of the "Fubon Run For Green™" Public Online Running, which seeks to expand the sustainable sports ecosystem and invites the public to run online for sustainability.

Economist Juliet Schor's research indicates that ‘engaging in moderate relaxation allows individuals to reduce work stress, which consequently promotes a decrease in high carbon consumption and activities and facilitates the achievement of carbon reduction targets.’

Richard M. Tsai, Chairman of Fubon Financial Holdings, stated that as a member of the Earth Team, Fubon Financial Holdings launched the Run For Green™ initiative in 2021, which invites marathon runners to take part in tree-planting activities and has successfully planted over 100,000 trees in Taiwan to date. In line with the ethos of Run For Green™, Fubon Financial Holdings is committed to promoting the Green Hour movement, which inspires people to adopt more sustainable lifestyles and facilitates environmentally conscious decisions.

Fubon Financial Holdings took the initiative to host a 'Green Hour' experience prior to Earth Day, utilizing lunch breaks to transform office spaces into four themed areas. These included a 'Yoga Relaxation Zone' led by professional instructors for yoga and deep breathing exercises; a 'Vegetarian Supply Station' featuring local produce and plant-based proteins to promote a low-carbon diet; an 'Offline Creativity Corner' for enjoying reading in a relaxed atmosphere; and a 'DIY Planting Station' for hands-on creation of moss balls. This initiative merges physical and mental well-being with sustainability efforts, allowing employees to recharge during brief interludes while embracing a low-carbon lifestyle.

Fubon Financial Holdings has further integrated employee activities by collaborating with Story Wear, Taiwan's first zero-waste fashion brand, to host a series of six 'Zero Waste Lifestyle Workshops'. Employees are encouraged to donate their unused jeans, learn to deconstruct and reassemble them into tote cup sleeves and phone straps, and understand the significance of zero waste principles and sustainable consumption. Colleagues are invited to collectively experience a zero-waste lifestyle. The workshop series named 'Zero Waste Lifestyle' expects around 200 participants, with a goal of gathering more than 400 pairs of jeans. All items collected will be donated to Story Wear for redesign and then transformed into distinctive products by a collaborating nonprofit, which will be available for purchase in the 'Sustainable Department Store', thus fostering a true circular economy.

Fubon Financial Holdings has proudly announced the grand return of the 'Fubon Run For Green™ Public Online Running'. Participants can link their data through wearable devices like GARMIN or popular running apps such as Strava to track their mileage. Once they complete 40 kilometers, they can receive a tree planted by Fubon in their name. This year, Fubon will partner with renowned brands like Uber Eats, adidas, GARMIN, and Gogoro to enhance the sustainable sports ecosystem and invite everyone to run online for sustainability.
