Fubon Financial Holdings and its subsidiary Fubon Life have both received this prestigious recognition this year, highlighting Fubon's commitment to creating a supportive parenting workplace.
Richard M. Tsai, Chairman of Fubon Financial Holdings, stated that Fubon Financial Holdings is actively implementing the four major ESG sustainable strategies set for 2021. In terms of creating a friendly workplace, we are following the spirit of the "empowerment" strategy, continuously promoting comprehensive employee care, and building a workplace environment conducive to friendly parenting to enhance the health and well-being of all Fubon employees. Last year, we were honored with the inaugural "Friendly Parenting Enterprise Award" by the magazine "Education Parenting Family Lifestyle," and this year, we are very honored to once again receive the inaugural "Friendly Parenting Enterprise Award" from the Taipei City Government. Looking ahead, Fubon will continue to create a workplace environment that is respectful and friendly in all aspects, promote the physical and mental health of its employees with comprehensive care and concern, demonstrate positive power and become a model enterprise for a happy workplace.
Fubon Financial Holdings has been paying long-term attention to the issue of low fertility rate and continuously improving measures related to birth and childcare. These measures include a subsidy of NT$100,000 for each newborn, an annual childcare allowance of NT$15,000 for children under the age of 6. In addition, we provide 10 weeks of paid maternity leave, 8 days of pregnancy checkup leave, and paternity leave that exceed legal requirements. These benefits ensure that employees have ample rest and support after giving birth, while also allowing them more time to adjust to the demands of parenting. Fubon Financial Holdings and its subsidiaries welcomed over 710 Fubon babies in 2023, with a crude birth rate of 19 per thousand, which is 3.3 times the crude birth rate (note) in Taiwan. We invested over NT$100 million in maternity benefits, taking care of nearly 5,000 employees' children. This demonstrates that Fubon Financial Holdings is not only a guardian of employee happiness and families but also injects more vitality into society!
Fubon Financial Holdings not only focuses on employee parenting benefits, but also emphasizes the physical and mental health of employees. We continuously promote diverse health promotion programs. In 2023, a total of 161,000 employees participated in health activities, including over 500 various medical services, more than 900 club activities, psychological and legal consultations, and comprehensive friendly lectures. Fubon Financial Holdings also provides health check-ups that exceed regulations for all employees, and regularly organizes group sports events, basketball games, and family day activities. In recent years, we have been actively promoting seminars with a focus on female care to ensure the physical and mental well-being of our female colleagues. These seminars aim to assist female employees in balancing their work and family responsibilities while also providing them with valuable health-related information.
The subsidiary Fubon Life is committed to creating a happy workplace that promotes a win-win situation for both employees and employers, as well as work-life balance. In response to the low fertility rate in society, the company provides various subsidies for employees from marriage, childbirth, to childcare (0-6 years old), which exceed the statutory days. These subsidies include paid pregnancy checkup leave, maternity leave, pregnancy checkup accompaniment, paternity leave, and four flexible shifts that accommodate the needs of family care. In 2023, a total of over NT$78 million has been allocated for production and parenting subsidies, benefiting more than 2,700 children of Fubon Life employees. In addition, the company's group insurance not only provides coverage for employees but also extends coverage to an unlimited number of employees' children, with the company bearing 70% of the premium.
In order to assist employees in giving birth and raising children with peace of mind, Fubon Life has established a total of 22 breastfeeding rooms across all office buildings and employs a team of full-time nurses with medical background to actively care for female employees who are pregnant and within one year after giving birth, and provide them with the consultation and care information they need. In addition, we have set up a "massage station" where trained professionals offer stress-relieving massages, as well as a "happiness lounge" where employees can avail themselves of professional psychological counseling up to 8 times a year. Additionally, we regularly organize workshops on physical and mental well-being, as well as parenting, to foster a safe and friendly work environment.
