Fubon Financial Holdings’ commitment to sustainability is once again recognized internationally! The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), the most authoritative international sustainability index, announced the constituents of the index for 2023 on the 8th, and Fubon Financial Holdings has not only been selected as a constituent of the top-ranked “DJSI World Index” for seven consecutive years, but has also been selected as a constituent of the “DJSI Emerging Markets Index” for eight consecutive years, continuing to make its mark in the international sustainability arena.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), launched by S&P Dow Jones Indices, is the world's first corporate sustainability index with more than 20 years of experience in sustainability assessment and is the most credible authority on corporate sustainability in the world today. As of today, more than 3,000 companies in over 60 industries have participated in the ranking of DJSI, and DJSI has been ranked by institutional investors worldwide as the most important index for sustainable performance investment.
Richard M. Tsai, Chairman of Fubon Financial Holdings, said that Fubon Financial Holdings regards ESG as an important direction for the company's development, and has been working on corporate sustainability for a long time. In 2021, Fubon Financial Holdings has planned a new sustainability vision project, with the main axis of "Run For GreenTM", focusing on the four major ESG strategies of decarbonization, digitalization, empowerment and connection. With the power of capital, we will lead the development of green finance in Taiwan, and continue to use our corporate influence in the non-financial aspect to guide enterprises and the public to change their mindset towards a low-carbon lifestyle, adhere to the mission of sustainable management, and lead Taiwan towards a net-zero future.
Fubon Financial Holdings has been pursuing sustainable competitiveness in its corporate operations and has always been in line with world-class sustainability standards, and the results are reflected in the ranking of this year's DJSI in the top three of Taiwan's insurance industry in terms of scores in the three areas of economy, environment, and society. In addition, Fubon Financial Holdings continues to rank among the top 3% (PR97) of the global insurance industry in terms of total score among the 24 assessment items this year. Fubon Financial Holdings tops the global insurance industry in terms of scores in four items, namely transparency of information disclosure, tax policy, human rights issues, and labor relations practices, and scores perfect scores in three of the items, namely transparency of information disclosure, tax policy, and human rights issues.
Fubon Financial Holdings has been actively promoting sustainable management, and the results are obvious to all. Not only has it won numerous domestic and international awards and recognitions over the years, but it has also actively participated in international sustainability initiatives in recent years. As a member of RE100, Fubon Financial Holdings has pledged to use 100% green power in all of its domestic and overseas business locations by 2040. It has also passed the review of the SBT, and has set a carbon reduction target coverage rate of more than 50% in the investment and financing positions, making it the financial institution with the highest coverage rate in Asia. Fubon Financial Holdings is the only financial institution in Taiwan that has joined the World Economic Forum (WEF). Richard M. Tsai, Chairman of Fubon Financial Holdings, has signed the WEF's "Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics (SCM)" pledge on behalf of Fubon Financial Holdings, and for the second consecutive year, Fubon Financial Holdings has incorporated the SCM framework into the Sustainability Report, which has enhanced the breadth and depth of the report.
Over the years, Fubon Financial Holdings has taken a forward-looking approach to corporate ESG development. Not only was Chairman Richard M. Tsai the first Taiwanese entrepreneur to publish an ESG opinion leader article on the World Economic Forum's official website, but Fubon Financial Holdings’ sustainability report is also the only financial industry report in Taiwan that comprehensively addresses the SCM sustainability indicators.
Fubon Financial Holdings has been selected as a constituent of the MSCI Sustainability Index for seven consecutive years, in addition to being consistently selected as a constituent of the DJSI World Index and the Emerging Markets Index. Fubon Financial Holdings has been ranked as the champion of the Asian insurance industry in the Sustainalytics Sustainability Ranking. Fubon Financial Holdings was also awarded the Corporate ESG Prime rating by Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS). Fubon Financial Holdings will continue to strive for sustainability and create a positive energy for common good in society, working together with its stakeholders to build a sustainable society.
